About Hanson Place Church

The Hanson Place Seventh-day Adventist Church is a member of the sisterhood of churches comprising the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, which is a part of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Located in the Fort Greene area, the Hanson Place Seventh-day Adventist Church is a community of believers who are committed to each other as members of the family of God and who are dedicated to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Its mission is to serve God, human beings and all of God's creation.  It strives to achieve and foster a unity of mind and spirit which, through love, transcends distinctions of race, national origin, economic status or cultural background.  It affirms that God's church works in the community as God's instrument and seeks to build its members into a strong spiritual community which improves the quality of life and restores the wholeness of humankind.

It seeks to continue the mission of Jesus Christ by proclaiming the gospel in the context of the Three Angels' messages of Revelation 14:6-12, and in serving the needs of the immediate and wider community.  It seeks to champion the cause of love, peace and justice within the church and to witness effectively in the world as it prepares a people for the soon coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In fulfilling its mission, the Hanson Place Seventh-day Adventist Church also operates an elementary school which provides superior Christian education to children of the church and community.  The staff of Hanson Place Seventh-day Adventist Elementary School endeavors to impart to our children the skills that society demands for effective service and values that can be used to enhance relationships with all of God's creatures.  Today, graduates of the school are successful members of the legal, medical, religious and other professional communities.
