Rohan Spencer, Associate Pastor
Pastor Rohan Kevin Spencer was born on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Jamaica, to the late Hyacinth Williams and Junior J. Spencer. He grew up in the city of Kingston with his four siblings – being the only son for his mother and the only begotten of his father. He was introduced to the Seventh-day Adventist Church at his elementary school by his class teacher Mrs. Olive Lindsay, accepted the Advent Message and was baptized at age 12 at the New Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church by Pastor Ucall Harris. Sensing his call to ministry at fourteen years old, Pastor Spencer became an active member of the Old Harbour Seventh-day Adventist Church, serving as a deacon, youth leader and a Conference Certified Bible Instructor. After gaining a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Northern Caribbean University, Mandeville, Jamaica, Pastor Spencer was called in 2004 to join the ministerial staff at Central Jamaica Conference as Ministerial Evangelist/Intern. Thereafter, he was assigned as District Pastor for the Comfort Hall District of Churches in Manchester, then to the Central Village District of Churches in Spanish Town - Jamaica’s former capital. Pastor Spencer has completed a Master of Education in School Counseling from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.
As an ordained minister, Pastor Spencer believes and practices holistic community evangelism, and is an advocate for youth development, social justice and religious liberty. Success in his ministry has been marked by growth in discipleship, evangelism, community outreach and church planting. The Rose Hall Church and the Twickenham Church in Jamaica are fruits of his co-laboring with the saints. While serving in Jamaica, Pastor Spencer was involved in the church conference’s community services, stewardship and bible school committees, and member of several other community-based advisory councils and boards. In September 2012, Pastor Spencer migrated to New York and has been actively supporting the work of the gospel ministry in evangelism, discipleship training and as a volunteer school counselor/Chaplain. He is a member of the International Christian Educators Association, the American School Counselor Association, and the New York State School Counselor Association.
Pastor Spencer is married and shares in ministry with wife, Mauricia Cassanova-Spencer since July 22, 2007. Sister Spencer also hails from Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica, and presently serves as a teacher of mathematics with the New York City Department of Education. Pastor Spencer is guided by the scriptures found in Hebrews 13:5-6 and holds firm to his personal philosophy of “Harbour No Hindrance on your Way to Glory.” His ministry goal is to help individuals and families to experience transformation in Jesus Christ and for them to become actively involved in the process of preparing others for the imminent return of Christ.
